Sweet, Sweet BBQ Mesquite
The foam BBQ takeout container had a pig in overalls and with a smile. Pulling back the cover, aluminum foil, and wax paper revealed a half rack, baked beans and potato salad. A mild BBQ sauce coated the smoked ribs. The high fat content of the ribs made each bite a succulent treat. The warm beans and cold potato salad were the perfect compliment. Hog Rock BBQ prepared each component of this meal with care and balance of flavors. As I sank my teeth into the ribs, the meat slid off the bone, indicating that Hog Rock BBQ prepared their ribs with attention to detail. All of this for under $10! A price and a taste you must not miss if you are ever in the Wetumpka area.
Some Local Flavor
Moments before consuming that tasty BBQ, the waitress greeted me with neighborly banter accented with a smile. “Hi, how are you? What’s the name on the order?” she asked in her pleasant local dialect. “In response, I gave my name, clearly aware that there were probably not many patrons named “Tony” in this area. “You got here quick!” she quipped. While the waitress bagged my feast, I looked around the room and it was evident by the glances I received that the restaurant contained regulars and Wetumpka locals. They sat in pairs. The plainly decorated dinning room further illustrated that Hog Rock BBQ does not need a flashy space because they have fantastic fare. After wishing the waitress a happy New Year, I hopped to my car in anticipation. Before racing back to the cabin, I snapped this quick shot to share with you.
